What does it mean to be at home? To make yourself at home in the world? A seemingly simply question that we can all begin to answer. But how do we make that beginning? What is it we share in the process of coming to the meaning of home? Already in the question itself we begin to see deeper themes emerge and more questions to take us along these pathways. Is a home "in" the world? Is it something through which the world emerges, becomes intelligible? Is our sense of self determined by an attachment to this differential relationship? If so is this an error? A mistake we continue to make through our cultural inheritance.
This is a space to explore the significance of the home in our understanding of ourselves, our society, our culture. We will listen to the echoes of this thought through the cavernous ruins of our civilisation. Levinas, Heidegger, Illich will be our among our companions as we try to unearth the terrestrial foundations of our domesticity, the ethical coherence of our domain, the lived experience of our dwelling.
I will be continuously reshaping and rewriting this beginning. For what else is a way to home but a beginning?
